Opening Day Dodgers Tickets Sold Out Following Word of New Owners

Fans are growing more optimistic about the 2012 season.

Dodger fans who came to the stadium Wednesday to buy tickets for the upcoming season were excited about news that a group including former basketball star Magic Johnson planned to buy the team.

"Give me that Magic touch," said Vincent Rodriguez, who hasn't missed opening day for 30 years.

Having a new name in the office may be just what the Dodgers needed.

"I think (Frank) McCourt can hit the road," one fan said. "I want to see the Dodgers."

A season that got increasingly worse in 2011, both on the field and at the ticket office, left fans worried about the future. With this new deal, fans are growing more optimistic about the 2012 season.

"All the fans are now going to sell out the stadium all season because of Magic Johnson," said Eric Barajas. "It's going to be a whole new season."

Current owner Frank McCourt still has his hands in the game. The deal allows him to negotiate future development of the parking lot. That has some fans looking to find other ways to get to Chavez Ravine.

"I'll take the Blue Line," one fan said.

Opening day at Dodger Stadium is April 10. Single-game tickets are sold out.
