The homicides of a mother and her 19-year-old daughter were not random, detectives said.

Police are looking for 23-year-old Jonathan Scott Chacon, who is believed to be the boyfriend of the younger victim. He may be driving a black 1996 Mustang convertible with California license plate 6CQF458 and damage to the rear of the vehicle, police said.

Chacon, a resident of Redondo Beach, is described as 5'7, around 160 pounds with black hair and black eyes. He has a tattoo on his right upper arm of a grim reaper and nautical star.

Police said he is likely armed and dangerous.

An off-duty officer reportedly spotted a person matching Chacon's description in traffic on the northbound 5 Freeway in Orange County around 7:15 p.m. But the man is still missing, and police are asking for the public's help.

The identities of the victims are not being released because relatives have not been located nor had any stopped by the crime scene as of late Tuesday night, police said.

"We do believe that these two females are the victims of foul play," Cpt. Jeff Hink of the Redondo Beach Police Dept. said Tuesday afternoon in a press conference held near the site where the bodies were found.

A co-worker of one the victims became concerned when the victim did not show up for work. The co-worker went to the residence of the victim where she discovered two females, deceased, lying on the floor, according to a police spokesman.

The co-worker had been with at least one of the victims the day before, the spokesman said.

Police responded to the call from the co-worker at approximately 10 a.m.

Police marked a trail of evidence from the home where the victims were found to a few buildings down the street.

Police are adivising anyone who encounters Chacon to call 911.  Anyone with information leading to Chacon or any other information regarding the case may call 310-379-2477.
