Driver Dies in OC Street Light Crash

A four-door sedan crashed into a street light in a sparsely populated part of Irvine Sunday morning, killing the driver, fire officials said.

Firefighters and paramedics with the Orange County Fire Authority responded to the 7:02, at Orchard Hills and Wolf Trail, Capt. Steve Concialdi said.

A man was driving the car -- he was the only one inside -- when it slammed into a light pole, according to Concialdi. No information about him has been released.

The part of Irvine were the crash took place, in the city's foothills, is not well-populated, Concialdi said.
