Motorcyclist Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash

A $50,000 reward will be given to the person who gives information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the driver responsible.

Authorities are searching for a driver wanted in a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed a motorcyclist Wednesday morning, police said.

Police were notified about the crash at the intersection of Vanowen Street and Tampa Avenue in Reseda around 6:45 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The driver of a truck was making a left-hand turn onto Vanowen Street, and it appeared that he did not yield to an oncoming motorcyclist, said Detective Bill Bustos of the Los Angeles Police Department. The truck driver left after the crash, heading westbound on Vanowen Street.

The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene, Bustos said. He added that the victim was a man in his late teenage years or early 20s, and had not been identified.

Surveillance video shows the truck police believe was involved in the crash. Authorities are looking for the driver of a white stakebed truck with significant damage on the passenger side of the vehicle, Bustos said.

Police are asking anyone with information about the crash to call the Los Angeles Police Department at 818-644-8000.

"The city of Los Angeles has a reward program for the identification, the arrest, and the conviction of anybody involved in fatal hit-and-run traffic collision," Bustos said, adding that anyone who provided that information would be "entitled to $50,000."
