Drunken Man Attacks Co-Worker With Machete

The attack happened on the 2300 block of Yosemite Drive in Eagle Rock

A drunken man repeatedly hacked at a work colleague's head with a machete after they got into an argument over an alleged property theft, according to police.

The attack happened on the 2300 block of Yosemite Drive in Eagle Rock at around  9 p.m. Tuesday, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman said.

The intoxicated suspect accused the victim of stealing some of his property, and as the argument grew heated he grabbed the weapon, police said. He hit the other man several times before the victim's brother came to his aid.

The third man managed to grab the machete from the attacker, and hit him with it several times before he called police.

The victim was taken to a hospital for emergency treatment, and is expected to survive

The suspect also was hospitalized with non-life-threatening wounds before being taken into police custody. He is expected to be charged with attempted murder.
