School Lockdown Lifted After Shooting Investigation

A 19-year-old woman was shot Friday morning near a Sylmar elementary school, which was locked down as officers searched for the attacker.

The woman had just returned to a house near the school when witnesses reported the sound of gunfire at the residence, according to investigators. An argument with a man inside the home preceeded the shooting, according to police.

Authorities have not confirmed whether the shooting was part of a domestic dispute, but said several witnesses reported the gunshots.

Details regarding the victim's condition were not immediately available.

Dyer Street Elementary School was on lockdown during the search in the 12700 block of North Herrick Avenue. The lockdown was lifted late Friday morning.

 No arrests have been reported.
