E3 Expo Is All About the Moves

New motion controllers and 3D technology highlight the Expo.

Think of it as Mecca for Gamers.

The E3 Expo, billed by organizers as the nation's leading computer and video gaming industry convention, opens Tuesday at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Leading manufactures including Sony, Microsoft, Electronic Arts, Activision, and more are expected to roll out new products.

Xbox will showcase Kinect, a new system that recognizes users' gestures and voices and allows them to control on-screen avatars in games.

"Kinect is a totally new system which makes the technology around gaming and around entertainment invisible. So it recognizes you, it hears you," said Dennis Durkin/COO, Microsoft Interactive Entertainment Business.

Not to be outdone, Sony is slated to focus on the 3-D gaming capabilities of the Playstation 3 and details on the Playstation Move motion-control system during their splashy Electronic Entertainment Expo press conference.

Video game developer Ubisoft announced it would release a new dancing-and-singing game featuring Michael Jackson this holiday season. The as-yet-unnamed game will be among the first to use Kinect and Move.
