Jay Mariotti, a panelist for the ESPN talk show “Around the Horn,” was arrested in the Del Rey or Mar Vista area on a felony charge Saturday, said a Los Angeles police lieutenant.

The 51-year-old journalist was arrested somewhere in the LAPD's Pacific Station area at 4:30 a.m. The sheriff's office jail records indicate Mariotti was booked on undisclosed felony charges at 5:45 a.m. and was being held by the police department shortly after his arrest.

A source with knowledge of the case described it as a domestic disturbance charge involving Mariotti's girlfriend, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Los Angeles police Lt. P. Kreefft of the Pacific station refused to give  any further details, saying only that it was a domestic incident.

"Anything with domestic violence becomes confidential," said Los  Angeles police spokesperson Norma Eisenman.

He was being held on $50,000 bail.

Mariotti is also a national columnist for Fanhouse.com
