Woman in Her 60s Stabbed During Attempted Robbery in Montebello

Police are searching for a male described as Latino in his early-to-late teens, wearing a light colored jacket and dark jeans.

A woman in her 60s was in serious condition after being stabbed during an attempted robbery Friday night in Montebello, police said.

The assault happened around 8:20 p.m. in the 600 block of North Hendricks Street near Beverly Boulevard, police said.

The woman was stabbed in the front of the doorway at her home where an attempted robbery took place, according to the Montebello Police Department.

Neighbors said the area is known to be safe and quiet.

"It's pretty scary," said Andrea Zavala, a neighbor. "It can happen anywhere, but when it's too close to home it makes a difference."

The woman was hospitalized where she was being treated for life-threatening injuries, police said.

Police are searching for a male described as Latino in his early-to-late teens, wearing a light colored jacket and dark jeans.
