5-Day Manhunt Ends; Escaped Inmates Captured

A manhunt that started in the Hollywood Hills prompting police to warn residents to lock their doors and stay inside has come to an end after five days.

Pablo Ladislow Ontaneda, 18, and Christopher Ochoa, 19, were tracked Tuesday evening to a private residence in Jurupa, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

There was a brief chase and the suspects were taken into custody, ending the five-day manhunt. They were hospitalized with minor injuries and booked into the Riverside County jail.

Ontaneda and Ochoa were last seen about 1:45 p.m. Friday near Mulholland Drive and Laurel Canyon Boulevard near Studio City.  Both men were serving time for second-degree robbery at the Ventura Youth Correctional Facility located in Camarillo.

Police had issued a warning for residents to be on the lookout for the two men.

"Our advice to the public is stay in your homes," said LAPD Lt. Andy Neiman on Friday. "If you see something that's unusual, if you see someone walking through your neighborhood, stay indoors.
