Candlelight Vigil to Honor Teen Who Died at Eaton Canyon

Esther Suen remembered at Emmaus Lutheran Church

Family and friends of Esther Suen, the 17-year-old who was killed after falling from a cliff in Eaton Canyon, planned to meet Saturday evening at an Alhambra church for a candlelight vigil, according to a memorial Facebook page set up in the teen's honor.

The vigil was scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. at Emmaus Lutheran Church, located at 840 S. Almansor St., according to the page "R.I.P Esther Suen."

The Suen family attended the church, and an early vigil was held there Friday night, friends told NBC4.

Suen was killed after falling 200 feet while hiking with friends at Eaton Canyon on Friday. An 18-year-old in the group was hospitalized with a dislocated shoulder, and two other hikers had to be rescued, according to authorities.

The high school senior attended Mark Kepple High School, which planned to have grief counselors on campus Monday.
