What started out as a high-tension situation in Burbank turned out to be nothing more than a guy with some fake grenades and booby trap ambitions.

On Oct. 9, officers stopped a 30-year-old man for a minor traffic violation. That's when they discovered the driver had material with the intent to manufacture explosive devices, police said.

Cops, along with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Explosives Unit, searched his home and discovered additional explosive material and evidence.

But, police say, the situation turned out to be a lot less serious.

Cops say the man was messing around with fake grenades and looking up stuff online about how to make booby traps.
