A Santa Monica teenager is in custody after police seized two homemade explosive devices from his apartment.
Police were serving a routine search warrant on the apartment in the 1100 block of 12th Street when they discovered the suspicious materials. Residents in the apartment building were evacuated, and the bomb squad was called in.
Investigators searched the apartment where the 16-year-old lived and removed items in bags, but wouldn't say what they were.
