Boy and His Dogs Killed in Reseda House Fire

A teen-aged boy, home alone, dies in house fire, along with his three dogs.
A 16-year-old Reseda High School student and his three dogs were found dead Friday in a fire in his Reseda home, which was not equipped with smoke alarms, authorities said.
Edward Miller died at the scene, said coroner's Lt. Brian Elias.
The blaze at 18424 W. Saticoy St. was reported at 2:35 a.m., and firefighters doused the flames in 13 minutes, Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Melissa Kelley said.
The bulk of the fire was confined to one room, where firefighters found Miller's body and his three dead dogs, Kelley said. No one else was inside the home at the time.
The house was not equipped with smoke alarms, said LAFD Battalion Chief John Duca. The cause of the fire was under investigation. A damage estimate was not immediately available.
Miller was a special needs student in the 10th grade at Reseda High School, KCAL9 reported.
"He got along with everybody," the school's principal, Alfredo Tarin, told Channel 9. "He was one of those young people that went along with other students, and they seemed to like him. He followed them; he went wherever they went. That was Eddie. It's hard to believe that these accidents happen."
