Ft. Hood soldiers following the deadly shooting rampage
Muslims and law enforcement officials are concerned about possible backlash and retaliation against the local Muslim community.
Thursday afternoon, US Army Major, 39 year-old Nidal Malik Hasan, who is Muslim, allegedly went on a shooting rampage killing 13 and wounding 31 at Fort Hood in Texas. It’s the worst mass shooting on a military base in U.S. history.
A mosque in Texas has already received a threat. Now, local Muslims fear possible backlash as witnessed in the days and months following the 9/11 terror attacks.
“ LA police and sheriff's deputies will be patrolling the areas around mosques and other religious facilities to make sure there is no backlash," said Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca at a Thursday News Conference at the Islamic Center of Southern California.
