Family Pleads With Public To Help Bring Missing Mother Home

Authorities said there were no immediate signs suggesting she ran away.

A family is pleading with the public to help bring home a 29-year-old mother who vanished last week after telling her roommate she was giving a homeless parolee a ride to check in with his parole officer.

Kristen Ghilardi was seen in Canyon Country on Wednesday, Aug. 26 driving her charcoal-gray, four-door 2006 Toyota Corolla leaving a friend's house, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. She told a friend she was going to take "Patrick" to Simi Valley.

"She's never been missing before, never gone for any period of time without letting someone know and never not picking up her son from school," said Anthony Ghilardi, the missing woman's brother.

Ghilardi, a single mother, was supposed to pick up her 10-year-old son by 6 p.m. Wednesday, according to her brother. She never showed.

Sheriff's investigators said it appears her phone has been turned off.

NBC4 learned that Ghilardi used her signature to withdraw cash on Friday from a bank in Northridge.

Ghilardi is described as a caring woman who works with a homeless outreach program and is also a manager at Costco. Concerned family members said it was unlike her to disappear without notice.

"She would do anything for anyone. ... Stuff that most people would never think about doing," said Anthony Ghilardi.

Authorities said there were no immediate signs suggesting she ran away.

Ghilardi is 5 feet 6 inches and weighs about 140 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes. Her brother said she recently shaved her head because of a medical condition.

Ghilardi drives a gray 2006 Toyota Corolla with license plate number 5VLM990.
