Missing Hemet Teen With Autism Has Been Found

A missing Hemet teen with autism has been found, family members said Wednesday.

Dakarai Evans, 16, disappeared Monday afternoon. The boy's mother, Sherrea Evans, said she was showering when her son quietly left their home at the corner of West Acacia Avenue and Kirbky Street in Hemet.

The boy was found late Wednesday afternoon.

David Evans said his son once wandered 15 miles until someone spotted him.

The father said Evans has autism, but is considered high-functioning.

"He doesn't understand that there's dangerous people out here," the teen's mother said.

Hemet police officers searched the area for the teen using blood hounds and a helicopter, but he was not found.
