A 57-year-old man faces lewd act charges in connection with an assault of a 14-year-old girl on a Los Angeles County public bus this week, authorities said.

The incident occurred at 1:53 p.m. Tuesday when the suspect traveling on a Metro Line 152 bus near Roscoe and Laurel Canyon boulevards in Sun Valley allegedly approached the girl from behind and sexually assaulted her, according to a news release from the Los Angeles Police Department.
The girl, who had been traveling with her family, immediately told her mother of the crime, and they followed the suspect onto another bus as he tried to get away, deputies said.
The suspect man was detained on the second bus by LAPD officers, officials said.
Griego was booked into the Los Angeles County jail with bail was set at $250,000.
Griego is a registered sex offender, deputies said.
