Man Dies in Shooting at Harbor City Strip Club

Cops investigate whether two shootings in the same vicinity are related

Police on Sunday were investigating whether two shootings early Sunday were related - one that left a man dead at a Harbor City strip club, the other that injured two women sitting in a parked car nearby.

The shooting at the Fantasy Gold Club, 1612 E. Pacific Coast Highway, was reported about 1:50 a.m., Los Angeles police Sgt. Richard Gabaldon of the Harbor Station said.

“There was a dispute; the suspect retrieved a handgun outside, walked in and shot the victim one time in the head,” said Gabaldon told City News Service.

A 26-year-old man, who was not identified, died at a hospital.

Police were looking for a man described as black with a blue-steel semi-automatic pistol and wearing a hooded sweatshirt.

About the same time as the strip club shooting, someone opened fire on three women in a car at the Harbor Inn next door.

“A car pulled up and someone began shooting,” Gabaldon said, adding that it was unclear if the gunman was the same as the one who killed the man inside Fantasy Gold.
