Man Stabbed to Death in El Monte

A man was stabbed to death Sunday on a street in El Monte, and deputies detained a suspect in the attack, authorities said.

Investigators also recovered a weapon at the scene, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy Tracy Koerner said.

The suspect and the victim are related, but detectives haven't released the nature of their relationship,

The stabbing happened in the 10500 block of Lower Azusa Road about 12:30 p.m., Koerner said.

The victim was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Koerner said.

The victim's name was withheld pending notification of kin.

A motive for the stabbing was not disclosed.

Authorities have not yet released the name of the detained suspect.

Sheriff's detectives were assisting El Monte police with the homicide investigation, Koerner said.
