Father Charged in 6-Month-Old Daughter's Murder

Layla Thomas' 19-year-old father, Timall Thomas, was taken into custody shortly after she died at Loma Linda University Medical Center Wednesday.

The tragic injuries and subsequent death of a 6-month old girl prompted an investigation and ended with her father's arrest in her alleged murder.

Layla Thomas' 19-year-old father, Timall Thomas, was taken into custody shortly after she died at Loma Linda University Medical Center Wednesday, according to a San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department news release.

Timall became the focus of an on-going investigation after Layla was taken to Desert Valley Hospital in Victorville on Saturday, unresponsive and without a pulse.

After performing CPR on the infant, doctors placed her on a ventilator. A CT scan revealed she was suffering from a brain injury and fractured skull, she also showed signs of trauma with bruising on her body, according to the release.

The 6-month-old was airlifted to LLUMC, where she died four days later.

Timall was taken into custody at the hospital and later charged with his daughter's murder.  

He's scheduled to be arrainged Friday at Victorville Superior Court.
