Father, Son Killed in Inglewood Murder-Suicide

INGLEWOOD, Calif. -- A 27-year-old Inglewood man killed himself early Monday after shooting his 4-year-old son, who died hours later at a hospital, police said.

Officers were sent to the 3200 block of West 112th Street about 12:20 a.m. in response to a report of a possible attempted suicide. They found Sharome Frazier and his son, each with one gunshot wound, said Inglewood police Lt. Mike McBride.

The father died at the scene, and Sharome D. Frazier Jr. succumbed to his injuries at a hospital Monday afternoon, McBride said.

The boy's mother was not married to his father, but they had a mutual custodial arrangement regarding their son, McBride said. He said the mother lives in Los Angeles and the son was staying at his father's residence, per the agreement.

Investigators were trying to determine why the father carried out the murder-suicide.

ABC7 reported that friends and neighbors were stumped.

"I just seen them yesterday. It didn't seem like nothing was wrong," one neighbor said.

Others told Channel 7 off camera that they, too, couldn't make sense of what had happened. The father had a good job, a strong family and always seemed upbeat, they said.
