Firefighter Injured Battling Apartment Building Blaze in Long Beach

A firefighter was injured while battling to extinguish a fierce blaze in Long Beach on Thursday.

It took almost two hours to knock down the fire at the three storey Village Grove building, which is located at the intersection of East Centralia Street and North Bellflower Boulevard, Long Beach Fire Department said. At the height of the incident the flames spread to roof.

The three alarm blaze started at around 3 a.m, and it was finally put out at around 5 a.m. One firefighter suffered minor burns, but no one else was injured.

In total 60 firefighters from Long Beach Fire and LA County Fire departments were needed to quell the flames.
