Fire Rips Through Recycling Center in Ontario for Second Time in Three Years

Residents near an Ontario paper and cardboard recycling yard that went up in flames Tuesday were told to stay indoors but some used hoses in the hopes of preventing flying embers from torching their homes.

The fire was reported at JC Horizon Recycling on Main Street. It was the second fire that erupted at the recycling plant in the past three years.

The cause of that fire was deemed undetermined, fire officials said Tuesday.

Residents don't understand why it has happened again.

"It is scary," said Michelle Kesler.

The site sits near a railroad and train traffic was being diverted around the fire.

The smoke didn't affect nearby Ontario Airport.
