Firefighters Put Out Blaze at High School in Boyle Heights

A fire that broke out at a high school campus in Boyle Heights was being investigated as a possible arson, officials said.

The fire was reported just before 4 a.m. at Theodore Roosevelt High School in the 400 block of South Matthews Street, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. No injuries were reported.

Firefighters arrived and found a well-involved fire at one bungalow and at least 12 trash cans on fire.

Crews cut ventilation holes in the roof of the structure and were able to knock down the fire within minutes, fire officials said.

Firefighters reported some water and smoke damage to the bungalow.

The blaze was put out around 4:30 a.m.

The fire was contained to a one-story bungalow being  used as a temporary classroom. The flames began inside several trash cans placed around that building and a nearby second bungalow, according to the fire department.
