Firefighters Battle Structure Fire in Playa Vista

It took about 100 firefighters to knock down the fire at a three-story commercial building.

Firefighters battled a heavy blaze that broke out in a three-story commercial building in Playa Vista Saturday morning, officials said.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a 7:25 a.m. call and quickly arrived on scene. Flames could be seen burning the third floor of the business Innovation Line, located in the 11800th block of Teale Street.

The extremely hot interior conditions became too intense for the firefighters, and they eventually had to leave the building.

It took around 100 firefighters to extinguish the flames within two hours.

Dozens of Innovation Line employees were working on the first floor of the building when the fire started in on the third floor and in the attic, officials said.

All employees were safe, but around 180 of them do not have a place to work, said the building’s owners.

A worker said he spotted someone running from the building just before the flames started.

The fire posed no health dangers, officials said.
