Firefighters Put Out Blaze Close to Homes in Pomona

Firefighters made quick work of a brush fire in Pomona Monday night.

Los Angeles County Fire Department crews responded to the fire near Rio Rancho Road and Phillips Drive at 6:44 p.m. and knocked down the flames at 7:36
p.m., according to a department official.

During the fire, the Pomona Police Department closed nearby streets to give emergency vehicles better access, asking drivers to avoid the area.

It was unclear what started the fire.
