Driver Rescued From Big Rig Under Downed Power Lines

The initial crash knocked down a power line pole, which caused other poles to fall like dominoes

A driver was trapped in a big rig when live wires fell on the truck after it clipped a power line pole, which caused several other poles to topple, at a parking lot Thursday in Commerce, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The truck appeared to have clipped a pole as the driver turned into the parking lot at a delivery service building near Vail Avenue and Elm Street. At least three poles, all supporting the same wires, snapped and wires fell onto the big rig's trailer and several vehicles parked in the lot.

Fire-rescue personnel responded and a utility crew member removed wires from the truck, allowing the driver to climb out.

At least one pole fell onto a big rig cab parked in the lot.

No injuries were reported.
