Traffic Resumes on Eastbound 210 Freeway After 5-Vehicle Crash Leaves 1 Dead

Traffic was flowing again along the eastbound 210 Freeway Saturday morning following a fatal five-vehicle crash in Pasadena.

It was reported shortly before 5 p.m. Friday just west of Sierra Madre Boulevard, California Highway Patrol Officer Monica Posada said.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene and one other suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital, said Lisa Derderian of the Pasadena
Fire Department.

The deceased victim was a male, but his age was not immediately available, according to the CHP.

One of the vehicles involved was a box truck, another a pickup truck that ended up on its side and a third vehicle was crushed, according to Derderian, who said two other vehicles had minor damage.

The wreck prompted closure of all eastbound lanes, according to the CHP.

Evening rush traffic was backed up to the Ventura (134) Freeway and by 10 p.m., eastbound vehicles were eking through the area via a single lane, according to reports from the scene.

All lanes were reopened shortly before 11 p.m., according to the CHP.

The deadly wreck also caused a suspension of service on the Metro Gold Line between the Allen and Sierra Madre Villa stations.

Service later resumed with delays and supplemental bus service and returned to normal at 10 p.m., according to Metro.
