Indecent Exposure Suspect Arrested at Park Near Elementary School

Authorities received reports of two cases involving the same man last week in Thousand Oaks and Westlake Village

A person identified as a suspect in the a series of indecent exposure cases in southeastern Ventura County was taken into custody Tuesday evening.

The subject was arrested at about 6 p.m., but more details were not immediately available.

The arrest came on the same day investigators released a sketch of an individual suspected of exposing himself to children last week in Thousand Oaks and Westlake Village. A neighborhood watch leader also issued information about the case in emails to residents near Russell Park, located adjacent to Westlake Hills Elementary School.

Investigators made the arrest as they conducted surveillance at the park, according to police. The suspect matched descriptions provided by victims and the man's vehicle also matched a description provided by a victim, police said.

Police identified the suspect as 49-year-old Antonio Cerna. It was not immediately clear whether Cerna, booked into Ventura County Jail, had obtained legal counsel.

"(He) initially denied any wrongdoing, but ultimately admitted to committing both of the recent indecent exposures in this neighborhood," according to a police statement.

Anyone with information was asked to call authorities at 805-654-9511 or make an anonymous tip by calling Ventura County Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
