Flo Anderton celebrated her 80th birthday on Monday with her co-workers at Adams Rite Aerospace, and says she has no plans of slowing down any time soon.
Flo Anderton recently celebrated her 80th birthday, but if you saw her in action at Adams Rite Aerospace, you’d never know it.
In fact, her co-workers affectionately refer to her as the company’s "Energizer Bunny,"
Anderton, who’s been making airplane faucets and soap dispensers for 15 years for the aerospace company, boasts that her hands work just fine, calibrating dozens of mechanical parts a day.
She often arrives an hour before her shift and works ten hours a day. She even comes in on Saturdays if it’s necessary.
"She’s here early, she’s dependable and she’s here every day," said Richard Jurado, Anderton's boss.
On Monday, the entire factory took a break to celebrate Anderton’s eight decades of life and her dedication to her position.
"When I took the job I took on a responsibility to do the job and I love what I do," Anderton said.
Anderton has seen 14 U.S. presidents come and go. She’s been alive since the Great Depression, was married 44 years and, on occasion, dons a miniskirt for the company party.
Her co-workers love her, and around the office they call her an everyday hero who never quits.
Anderton agreed with that.
"I’m not quitting,” Anderton said. "Because I don’t want to sit at home and, I guess, get old."
