Instability from storms moving through Central California on Wednesday produced a towering funnel cloud over Bakersfield.
A photo snapped by Diana Pineda shows the funnel cloud spiraling downward from cloudy skies.
"It was wider before this picture coming down from the sky," Pineda said. "I don't believe it touched the ground."
Had it touched the ground, the funnel cloud would be classified as a tornado.
