18-Year-Old Arrested in Glassell Park Shooting Death

The 31-year-old victim's body was found in a car in the neighborhood northeast of downtown Los Angeles

An 18-year-old man was arrested Tuesday in the shooting death of a woman found in a car northeast of downtown Los Angeles.

Alexis Madeira was booked on suspicion of murder in the death of 31-year-old Desiree Ramirez, identified by police sources as a transient from Fontana.

The deceased woman was found at about 2:30 a.m. in a vehicle in the 3200 block of Isobel Drive. Police received a 911 call from a residence in the neighborhood to report the shooting.

Witnesses told investigators they heard yelling, possibly an argument, before the shooting. The victim was at the Glassell Park residence where there had been a party, police said.

Police sources told NBC4 the woman's death was related to methamphetamine found at the scene.

Four people were detained and questioned by investigators after a neighborhood lockdown early Tuesday that was ordered after they refused to come out of the house, police said. Residents were advised to stay in their homes until about 5 a.m.
