Glendale Driver Faces Assault Charges in Crash With Bicyclist

An heated altercation in Glendale resulted in a driver swerving and trying to hit a biker twice.

A woman who police said intentionally swerved and hit a bicyclist in Glendale last week was arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, police said.

The incident happened on Friday afternoon on San Fernando Road in Glendale.

Nazik Ghazarian, 53, is accused of intentionally hitting a 26-year-old bicyclist with her sport utility vehicle after exchanging words with the rider, police said. The bicyclist, who was hit in the ankle, did not suffer serious injury.

The suspect allegedly tried to hit her again, nearly pinning her between a parked car and the SUV, authorities said.

The woman who was with another cyclist stopped and a witness tried to stop the driver by blocking her in, according to police.

The driver of the SUV continued to honk and yell at the cyclists and the witness, before other bystanders called 911.

The suspect's husband, who was a passenger in the car, said that his wife did nothing to agitate the cyclists, officials said.
