A Glendale police officer shot and wounded a man who allegedly charged at him with a knife, officials said.
The officer attempted to stop the man after he was seen carrying the knife near Glendale Avenue and Colorado Street (map) just before 3 a.m. Friday, Glendale Police Department spokesman Tom Lorenz said.
The man pulled out a knife and “charged at the officer in an aggressive manner,” according to a police news release.
The officer fired one round and struck the man on the side of his abdomen. The man was taken to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center with a non-life-threatening wound, police said.
The officer was uninjured.
The man was identified only as being in his 50s.
