Grandson Arrested on Suspicion of Murder in Couple's Slaying

The suspect was hospitalized Monday after he was involved in a single-vehicle crash on the 5 Freeway

The grandson of a couple found dead in a Glendale home was arrested Thursday night on suspicion of murder, according to Glendale police.

Nathaniel Scheiern was hospitalized Monday after he was involved in a single-vehicle crash on the 5 Freeway. He was arrested Thursday night on two counts of murder and booked into jail, police said.

The case will be presented to the district attorney for consideration of charges next week, police said.

Police found the couple, a man and woman, dead inside of a home on Alexander Street in Glendale on Sunday morning, Glendale Police Sgt. Robert William said. Officers came to the home after getting a call from a concerned family member who asked for a welfare check, he said.

A Calvary Bible Church representative identified the couple as William and Verna Scheiern.
