Driver Rescued After Crash Off Mountain Road

The car rolled about 200 feet down the side of a cliff late Wednesday off a twisting moutain road

A driver was extricated from the wreckage of vehicle late Wednesday after crashing off the side of a mountain road east of Los Angeles.

The driver crashed about 200 feet down the side of a cliff on Glendora Mountain Road above Glendora. Fire-rescue personnel needed about 30 minutes to reach the driver, who was trapped inside the car.

The driver was removed from the vehicle and hoisted by crews back up the side of the mountain. He remained hospitalized early Thursday.

Details regarding his condition were not immediately available.

The California Highway Patrol could not confirm a witness account that the driver was racing before the crash.
