Group Raises Funds for Rose Parade Float for Female WWII Pilots

A group is working to dedicate a Rose Parade float to the Women's Airforce Service Pilots, who flew more than 60 million miles during World War II in noncombat duties.

The 1,102 women flew every aircraft in the U.S. Air Force, according to the nonprofit Wingtip-to-Wingtip Association, which is trying to fund the float. They trained male pilots, test-flew new aircraft and more.

An estimated $160,000 to $200,000 is needed for the float, the group says.
