Small Fire Scorches Half-Acre of Brush in Tujunga-Sunland Area

City, county and Angeles National Forest firefighters combined to contain a small brushfire Sunday night in the Tujunga- Sunland area.

The blaze in the 11000 block of Oro Vista Avenue near Big Tujunga Canyon Road was reported at 9:05 p.m., Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey said.

The flames scorched at least a half-acre of brush in the wash, Humphrey said.

A final acreage count has not yet been tallied.

More than 50 firefighters knocked down the flames, after dousing some embers that spread due to the high winds in the area, Humphrey said.

No injuries were reported and no structures were threatened.
