The Sheriff's Department released a three-minute video showing a rescue helicopter hoisting three hikers who were found clinging to a cliff about 100 feet up at Eaton Canyon on Sept. 11.
The rescue happened at about 5 p.m. near the Eaton Canyon upper waterfall, said Deputy Tony Moore of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.
“(The hikers) were clinging to a cliff 100 feet above the canyon floor and unable to move,” Moore said.
Sheriff's Air-5 Rescue pilots positioned the helicopter over the trapped hikers, and Emergency Services Detail paramedic deputies -- with a sheriff's Special Enforcement Detail, were repeatedly lowered to each victim to rescue them from the cliff face.
Each hiker -- a young woman and two men -- was taken to a safe place where they were able to walk away uninjured.
