Witness: Driver “Dragged” Back to Site of Hit-and-Run Crash

The driver was involved in at least two crashes, one involving a pedestrian, Friday in Hollywood

A pedestrian was struck early Friday in Hollywood by a hit-and-run driver who was chased down by a witness after a second crash.

The male victim suffered critical injuries in the 2 a.m. crash near Santa Monica Boulevard and Normandie Avenue. The victim was not immediately identified.

A witness said the driver was involved in a second crash near Santa Monica Boulevard and Edgemont street, about four blocks from the first crash. The sedan driver collided with a parked vehicle, then ran on Edgemont Street for about two blocks.

"He had blood on his hands and on his cellphone," said witness Tony Hoff. "I dragged him back to the corner and waited for a police officer to arrive.

Police took the driver into custody.
