Hogwarts Coming to Universal Hollywood

Theme park is planning a Harry Potter attraction

The “Wizarding World of Harry Potter” is moving West, but it will take some time before it actually lands at Universal Studios Hollywood.

The theme park ride has been a huge success at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida but now NBC Universal, the parent company of NBCLA.com, and Warner Bros have confirmed plans to create a Hogwarts Castle at the Hollywood theme park.

The studios expect to pay $200 million  to build the new version of “Wizarding World” which will not open until 2015.

Since June 2010, the attraction in Florida has been a key draw boosting ticket and merchandise sales at the park’s “Islands of Adventure.”

One problem in locating the new attraction in Hollywood is where to put it?

The Orlando theme park is much larger and could easily accommodate “World” which is actually three different rides: “Forbidden Journey”, “Dragon Challenge” and “Flight of the Hippogriff.”

It is not known whether plans for the California “Wizarding World” will have the same rides or different ones.
