Beating Victim Found Dead in Hollywood Hills Home After Burglary Report

A man was found dead Friday inside a Hollywood Hills residence after police responded to a burglary report at the home.

The death was reported at 2:17 a.m. in the 6700 block of Milner Road, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Police tape blocked the narrow street Friday morning as officers continued the investigation.

The man found dead at the scene appeared to have been beaten, according to police. The victim was identified only as a man in his 40s.

The burglary call came in at about 2 a.m.

"On their arrival, they found a male deceased victim of what appeared to be a homicide," said Lt. Chris Ramirez.

Witnesses saw a man run from the location, but did not have a detailed description. No arrests were reported early Friday.

"It's always a shock to think that something such as a murder can go on," said neighbor Eric Pearl. "And, yet, living in Hollywood it's something you have to recognize as a potential reality."

Police confirmed the home was used for short-term rentals, but it was not immediately clear whether the victim was a renter.
