Authorities were interviewing witnesses after a man was fatally shot outside a Hollywood hotel with a bullet wound to his chest Friday.

The man was found in the 1700 block of North Las Palmas Avenue around 2 a.m. in front of the Las Palmas Hotel.

Officers patroling the area on foot heard what appeared to be the sound of multiple firecrackers and when they walked in the direction of the sound, they found the victim, according to LAPD Detective Steven Katz.

The victim was transported to Cedars-Sinai Hospital where he died. The victim appears to be a young male, perhaps in his 20s, according to Katz.

The hotel was featured in 1990 film "Pretty Woman" and is a popular destination for tourists.

“They take pictures of the hotel. It’s a very historic hotel,” said one area resident. "Julia Roberts did one of her pictures, along with Richard Gere.”
