Hollywood Shooter Recently Split-with Girlfriend

The man who opened fired in Hollywood Friday recently broke up with his girlfriend of four and a half years

A recent break up could have triggered the Hollywood shooting rampage that left the shooter dead and three injured – one critically.

Tyler Brehm, 26, and his girlfriend Alicia Alligood had been dating for four and a half years and broke up recently, Alligood told NBC 4.

Friends of Brehm said he would tell them he moved past the break up, but they could tell he was still bothered.

“He wasn’t a bad guy, he just got fed up and said, ‘Screw it,’” said Christina Mesropian, Brehm’s friend and neighbor.

Neighbors said they could hear arguments coming from their apartment in an Argyle Avenue complex. One neighbor said some arguments were over something as simple as a shower curtain.

After the breakup, Brehm began subletting another apartment on Cahuenga Boulevard, the manager of which had no comment on the incident.

Brehm, 26, opened fire Friday morning near the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Vine Street, indiscriminately shooting at people travelling through the area.

His rampage was caught on tape, which shows a man waving a firearm in the busy intersection where a music industry executive who lived nearby was shot while in his silver Mercedez-Benz.

John Atterberry, 40, was in critical but stable condition at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center by late Friday night.
