Woman Finds Stranger Staring at Her in Home

Authorities released a sketch of the suspect Friday, hoping someone would recognize the man.

A home intruder in Orange County terrified a woman when he broke into her home and trapped her in her room before fleeing the residence Sunday.

Authorities released a sketch of the suspect Friday, hoping someone would recognize the man.

Initially, police said the intruder was standing over the woman and woke her from her sleep. They later said the woman was awake and on her computer in her bedroom when the man broke into her home in the 17000 block of Van Buren Lane in Huntington Beach at 10:50 p.m.

"She sees movement in the doorway, she looks over and she sees a male she’s never seen before," said Officer Jennifer Marla, from the Huntington Beach Police Department. "She runs to confront him, he backs out of the doorway, shuts the door and holds it trapping her inside"

That was when she started screaming for her roommate to help her, to call police. The man released his hold on the door and fled the home.

Police said he entered the residence through an unlocked-open sliding glass door on the first floor of the home.

He is described as Hispanic, 18-24 years old, 5’10, 180 pounds with short black hair. He was wearing black pants, black shoes and a black hoodie at the time of the intrusion.

Police are asking anyone with information to call 714-375-5066.
