Home Invasion: Masked Men Steal $20,000

Thieves take off with $20 G's

Three men who broke into a Burbank home after midnight Wednesday and made off with jewelry and thousands in cash may have known what they were after, according to police.

Three men in ski masks broke into a home in the 1000 block of East Fairmount Road, police said. Two adults and a teenager were inside, police said, and one of them was injured in the invasion.

The men snatched a briefcase loaded with $20,000 and jewelry, according to detectives.

Some neighbors out and about early Wednesday say they didn't hear anything unusual overnight, but are concerned to hear the news.

"It's worrisome," said Don Valenciano, who lives up the street. "We know our neighbors, we're not afraid to leave the doors unlocked. But this changes things."

The incident has left some residents racking their brains for suspicious activity that might somehow be linked to the crime.

One neighbor reported hearing a loud scream three days ago, after which a white van speed away from the street. There is no indication that the incident had any connection to this crime.
