Police continued scouring the hills near University City Monday afternoon after a violent home invasion robbery. Antonio Castelan reports from the Hollywood Hills for the NBC4 News at 5 p.m. on July 2, 2012.
Authorities were still searching for three suspects Monday evening, after a report of a home-invasion robbery in the Hollywood Hills near Universal City.
The homeowner was shot in the arm, according to police. His wound did not appear to be life threatening.
"All occupants were taken and moved around the house at gunpoint," said Detective Steve Koman with LAPD. "Extremely lucky. It's not something that any one of you or anyone else would ever want to go through."
The home invasion was reported in the 3300 block of Charleston Way. The location is just north of Barham Boulevard and the 101 Freeway.
"It was weird to see the police cocking their guns and surrounding the house," said neighbor Doug Maida.
The suspects demanded money and jewelry, then fled on foot, according to authorities.
One neighbor speculated that a weekend garage sale may have prompted the incident, but police said they are still investigating.
