Homeland Church Suffers $800K in Damages After Fire

An investigation is underway after a fire ripped through a church in Homeland Saturday night, officials said.

The blaze broke out around 8 p.m. in the 31400 block of Highway 74, according to the Cal Fire Riverside County Fire Department.

It took 45 firefighters to extinguish the fire in about two hours. No one was inside the building when the fire erupted and no injuries were reported.

Fire officials estimated the damage at about $800,000, and said the fire was contained to the main building at the church. 

Highway 74 was closed in both directions but was later reopened.

No further information was immediately available.
