A man was in custody Tuiesday on suspicion of  growing marijuana inside his Woodland Hills residence.

How did police find out he was growing pot? He called them to report a home invasion robbery.

The report came in at about 9:15 p.m. Monday  from a residence in the 22000 block of Mulholland Drive.

"We believe this all stems from the narcotics activity in the residence," Sgt. Thomas Mason of the Topanga Station said Tuesday morning.

Police were searching for two men in their 20s who broke into the  home, beat the residents and took cash from them.

The resident who was robbed "was arrested after they found approximately 50 plants" in the residence, Mason said.

"There was lighting,  hydroponics, ventilation -- the usual set-up," he added.

The residential neighborhood is west of the junction with Topanga Canyon  Boulevard and south of the Ventura (101) Freeway.
